If I could give this book 10 stars I would! I bought this book for my husband for his birthday, which is Dec. 20, and he proceeded to buy 5 more copies to give to his friends because he thought it was so hysterical! Definitely takes a dry sense of humor to enjoy this book, but it is worth the money! I wish I could include the video I took of my husband's reaction! He was laughing so hard he was crying!
Bought this as a gift for somebody who has some real taxidermy-- the okay kind, not quite "crap."Book was passed around the family gathering, quite a captivating set of images of for an audience used to clean deer heads and intact, normally-shaped birds in flight on their walls.I'd love to have heard the stories behind some specific mounts in here... whether they were DIY attempts, bad chemical recipe reading, or something else, bad decision wise.This is my only reason to deduct a star-- although I do acknowledge that in many cases this is not going to be available info.It works very well as a coffee table book for a hunting camp, though... or a veterinarian's office, even.
As a taxidermist myself i didn't quite know what to expect when downloading this book. Well not only was i surprised by what was in there but some of it made my day lol. If course some of those pictures i probably won't ever get out of my head though. But overall, if you are wanting a good laugh or you are just bored and not sure what you want to do. Give this book a try.
This book is full of amazingly bad pictures. Everyone who sees it ends up laughing and scratching their heads in amazement. This is my go to coffee table book. I think it is well put together and a great value for the price. I still laugh when I go through it and I've had it for a couple of months. Everyone from my seven-year-old stepson to my 60-year-old mom thinks it's a trip. If bad taxidermy has ever made you laugh or has ever fascinated you, this is the end all be all book for you.
I got this book for my daughter after she casually mentioned it "looked interesting." It is flat-out hysterical!! It was the hit of our family's Christmas party!! My brothers especially enjoyed the part at the back with instructions for making your own "crap taxidermy" small rodent. One of them has threatened to taxidermy his daughter's hamster if she fails to care for it properly. So far, so good!!
The pictures that fill most of the book often made me laugh.There’s a section with step by step instructions on performing taxidermy on a mouse. It would have been much better if the author had included a picture of her own project.Overall it was an entertaining book and now I want to go buy a few feeder mice and some borax to try out the instructions at the end.
I just bought a second copy! This is a great, odd book that still remains appealing to most people. I like anything odd or morbid, and I think this book is hilarious. But, normal people will like it too. I just bought a second copy to give away at my work's secret santa.
This book is so much fun. I saw it at a show I attended last year, started looking through it, and had to stop because I was laughing out loud so much people where starting to stare at me. After I bought it I brought it to a retreat of outdoor educators and what fun we had with it. Just leave it laying on the coffee table, have friends over, and just listen for the laughter as they start looking through the book.
