lived in France for seven years so this book was particularly poignant for me. offered insights to a country I live and miss terribly. The author's treatment of various misconceptions rings true. I highly recommend this provocative, insightful, easy to read book for anyone, particularly Americans/British interested in French culture.

I stumbled across this delightful, thought-provoking book on the Amazon website while looking for other titles concerning France, and, having finished reading "They Eat Horses, Don't They?" I was sorry to reach the end, it was that good. I was expecting a more humorous text, but, nevertheless, there is much more food for thought here than, shall we say, horse meat. I highly recommend this book, especially to those who have traveled all over France. Enjoyed the quotable quotes in the margins, too, very revealing.

If you don't know much about the French this book can be enlightening. If you have some familiarity,it is less engaging. The organization makes it easy to skip around but the actual writing does not sparkle.

Funny, broad-minded, generous and wonderfully written critique of several common Anglo-American myths about the French. I had to look up several British slang expressions that pepper the text, a minor distraction. I came away with the sense that, like the Jews, the French are like everybody else, only a little moreso....

Buy it and you will really enjoy it. Great facts and insights wittily described. Thought provoking, philosophical, funny, and informative

Entertaining read here. The author makes fine usage of the English language in an attempt to explain the ways and means of their fellows across the Channel. I'm getting a lot out of this book.

Excellent book (very readable) and it takes on all the illusions being sold about the French.

Very well written and informative. Read quickly.
