This book is really enjoyable to read, and it's totally packed with hundreds of beautiful color photos. Since I purchased the book, it has been helping me to identify and appreciate my own collection of American Indian baskets. I recently saved more than the price of this book just by not buying an imported basket that I had thought was American Indian! I have the Turnbaugh's other basket books, but this one is the best yet. A comprehensive wealth of information for the basket collector, but also fun for those who just enjoy looking at--and learning about--the American Indian art of basketry.
Great reference
As usual, this book adds to the knowledge necessary to preserving interest in American Indian baskets. Of course, I am biased because (unintentional and unknown by the author) it has a photo of a basket I own.
This is an excellent book for the beginner (as well as, I assume, the consummate collector). A great guide to an over-all approach to collecting and conserving American Indian baskets.
